The Conference of the Parties (COP) is an international meeting that brings together countries that are signatories to global environmental conventions to discuss strategies, goals, and actions aimed at preserving the environment and biodiversity. COP 15, within the context of environmental agendas, focused primarily on biodiversity conservation, promoting discussions on the protection of ecosystems and species on a global scale.
Within this context, the work developed by Vini Fabretti for the COP 15 project in Campo Grande stood out for its sensitive and immersive approach to migratory animals in Brazil, with a special emphasis on the Pantanal of Mato Grosso. The proposal was based on the creation of scenes representing different Brazilian biomes, highlighting the natural richness and diversity of species that depend on migratory cycles for their survival.
The project built a dynamic visual narrative in which environments were not static, but alive and constantly transforming. The scenes transitioned throughout the day, following the passage of time from sunrise to nighttime. This shifting light not only added aesthetic depth to the work, but also reinforced the relationship between natural rhythms and the behavior of migratory animals.
By portraying different biomes—such as the Pantanal, with its flooded landscapes and abundance of birdlife; the Cerrado, with its open expanses; and other Brazilian ecosystems—the project emphasized how these regions are interconnected through migratory routes. The presence of multiple species in constant movement helped construct a sense of ecological continuity, showing that preserving a single territory is not enough without also protecting the pathways that connect these habitats.
Vini Fabretti’s work, therefore, goes beyond visual representation: it acts as a tool for awareness. By translating environmental data and concepts into sensory experiences and engaging visual narratives, the project helps bring audiences closer to the importance of conserving migratory animals and Brazilian biomes, reinforcing the urgency of integrated actions to protect biodiversity.
